Back in the year of 1990, years before the DVD era, a strange and weird advertisement popped up on the television for an odd film that I had never heard of. Music, sex, dancing, aliens, and a transvestite? What kind of movie was this? It was the release to the 15th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It’s first time on VHS and it was a big celebration.

Within a few months I had obtained a copy of this peculiar film. As I sat watching the screen in shock, my mouth gaping open, my foot tapping along and my parents in the other room playing cards with friends. I fell in love with Rocky Horror!

I ran to my friends, telling them of this exciting film. A few of them told me that they had seen it before and a few I had to introduce them into the world of Rocky Horror. The soundtrack was purchased, the dances were learned and more times that I can count, we would be found doing the Time Warp or recreating the Floorshow. Rocky Horror was like a drug. We were doing it all the time.

I then met a Sara, who became a good friend of mine. Sara was a big time Rocky Horror fan. She dressed up and attended the midnight screening every Friday night. Sara passed down her knowledge of Rocky Horror to my eager brain.

Not to long after our chance meeting, Sara convinced me to sneak out the house one night and go with her and her friends to my very first Rocky Horror Experience, I LOVED IT. From that moment on Rocky Horror has been a part of my every day life.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of kind. Rocky Horror has it’s own place in the cinema world and it IS an experience every person should have. The experience allows your creativity to flow, your true self to flow free.

I never really thought that hundreds of years later I would be in front that big silver screen, prancing around in fishnets and high heels playing the part of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Then in November of 2009 I joined The Fishnet Mafia and became part of the everlasting party we have all come to know and love as The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

To all our Rocky Horror family and friends and our fans…
Don’t dream it! Be true to yourself! You are one of kind!
